Early Life
Born in Montréal at the Sainte Justine hospital on July 27th, 1965, Chauvette was raised on St-Michel street in the borough of Rosemont (Montréal, Québec) with his two brothers: older brother Michel and younger brother Marc. Their father, Claude, was an auto-body repairman, and their mother Gisèle was a stay-at-home mother, later on becoming an office secretary. The three Chauvette brothers were baptized and raised as Roman Catholics.
From an early age, Pastor Chauvette experienced a deep and real love for the Lord. Oftentimes, he said he would stay home and recite his rosary (chapelet) rather than play outside with his friends – desiring to please the Lord. Wanting to play the part of Jesus during an Easter play, he reluctantly played the part of Lazarus at the Catholic church he attended, (Église) St-Eugène church. His fifth-grade teacher, Catholic nun Soeur Armande Denis, had a profound influence on his spiritual life. Years later, Chauvette would credit the Catholic nun with igniting the spark that would yield a profound desire to serve the God of the Bible. On April 15th, 1976, at the age of 11, Chauvette offered his life to the Lord by signing the commitment page of his small Gideon’s Bible – given to him by Catholic nun Soeur Armande Denis.
